About

Our world is teeming with incredible biodiversity. Plants, trees, birds, insects and countless other species all play critical roles in sustaining healthy ecosystems. Yet many of these species are increasingly at risk of extinction. Bioverse NG was created to help young Nigerians understand, protect, and advocate for biodiversity through learning, collaboration, and real opportunities for action.

About Bioverse NG

The Bioverse NG Project safeguards nature through a dual strategy that prioritises climate action and biodiversity conservation. Our philosophy is simple. Humans are not separate from nature. We are part of it. The diversity of plants, animals and ecosystems around us is essential not only for environmental stability but also for human well-being and survival. Bioverse NG equips young people with the knowledge, networks and opportunities to take part in biodiversity conservation across Nigeria.

Internship Placement for Top Participants

Top participants from the Bioverse NG workshop were selected for internship placements with leading biodiversity and conservation organisations in Nigeria to deepen their learning. These placements provided hands-on experience in wildlife conservation, environmental research, community engagement, and biodiversity advocacy.

Public Engagement and Storytelling

Bioverse NG also used storytelling and digital engagement to reach a wider audience. Through the Afro Wisdom Challenge, young people connected biodiversity conservation with cultural knowledge, using proverbs, stories, and local narratives to drive awareness. The Bioverse NG Career Series and Career Guide further expanded this impact by highlighting real career pathways in biodiversity and inspiring young people to explore opportunities in the sector.

Voices

What people are saying.

Most of the time when you talk about sustainability it feels like there is little you can do as an individual. The Bioverse NG workshops reminded me that individuals are the ones who form the bodies that enforce change.

Ebiuge Ogbomah

Biodiversity is such an interesting topic. It makes me conscious of everything in my environment. Every life matters.

Ene Ogebe

The session opened my eyes to things I normally overlooked. I realised that as individuals we must make the effort to protect our planet.

Ayorinde Temitayo

I gained a much deeper understanding of biodiversity and its importance, and I feel inspired to continue learning and advocating for its conservation.

Jonathan Gideon

I learnt that regardless of my career path, I can still contribute to biodiversity conservation.
