#StareDownOnPollution: FG To Tackle Indiscriminate Disposal of Plastics Through Clean and Green Programme
The Minister of Environment, Mrs Amina Mohammed, has announced the Federal Government’s decision to launch a clean and green programme. This she said would address the menace of indiscriminate disposal of plastics and polythene bags.
Speaking at the 10th National Council on Environment which held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State’s capital, Amina Mohammed noted that the aim of the programme was to protect the environment from pollution and at the same time create entrepreneurs in waste management and alternative cleaner energy sources.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Useni Uguru, also attend the meeting. He urged Nigerians to understand the decisions of the government in protecting the environment.
Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Almakura, in his address mentioned that the conference was a platform to call on investors to harness the solid minerals that abound in the state.
Earlier, Mohammed had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nasarawa State government, for a partnership to achieve the goals of the ministry.
